Chatsworth Country Fair

We are proud to announce that the National Lurcher and Racing Club will be running the Lurcher showing and working events at  Chatsworth Country Fair.

Friday 31st August 2018 will see Lurcher owners from across the Country competing for our Chatsworth SUPERDOG Championship. Entries for this will be taken from 8.30am and will be charged at £2 per dog per event. Working events including Simulated Coursing; Over 23” Straight Racing; Under 23” Straight Racing; Hurdles; Long Jump and Lurcher Field Obedience in both Open and Novice categories, which will be run as individual competitions with fabulous trophies and rosettes to be won. All of our working lurcher events in 2018 will be competing for the much coveted Golden Jackets and will all qualify for our Champion of Champions event at Brailes, Oxfordshire in October. Points will be awarded to the Lurchers for reaching different rounds within each discipline, and the dog who gets the most points from all the competitions will be awarded Chatsworth SUPERDOG 2018. We will also be running our “HAVE-A-GO” arena where a smaller Simulated Course is available for any dog to enter at £2 per dog.

Saturday 1st September 2018 will see our team again taking entries from 8.30am at £2 per dog per event. We will start with a Simulated Coursing stake, followed by Over 23” Straight Racing; Under 23” Straight Racing; Hurdles and Long Jump. Lurcher Field Obedience Competitions will also be taking place in both Novice and Open categories.

At approximately 12 noon our Chatsworth Child Handling Championship will commence where promising young Lurcher owners from across the Country will compete against each other for our 2018 Championship Child Handler title and the four trophies on offer. This will be followed by a full Lurcher Show consisting of 25 Classes at £2 per dog to enter. This year we have introduced a new Rescue Class where all monies raised will be donated to a Lurcher Rescue Centre. Throughout the afternoon we will again be running the “HAVE-A-GO”arena.

Sunday 2nd September 2018 will begin again with entries being taken at 8.30am for Simulated Coursing; Over 23” Straight Racing; Under 23” Straight Racing; and Hurdles (there will be no Long Jump competition). Lurcher Field Obedience Competitions will also be taking place in both Novice and Open categories, followed by the Remus Memorial Trophy where the winners of the Field Obedience competitions from the last 12 months, compete for the most prestigious Lurcher Field Obedience award in the Country.  Throughout the afternoon we will also be running the “HAVE-A-GO” arena. The open Lurcher Show will start at approximately 12 noon and will be followed by our Chatsworth Champion of Champions event, where some of the best showing lurchers in the Country will compete for trophies to 6th place and the most prestigious title in the Lurcher world.

The National Lurcher and Racing Club is the oldest and largest lurcher club in the world and was founded in 1980. Experienced members of crew will be on hand all weekend to give advice and guidance on all aspects of lurcher ownership. Anyone with an interest in lurchers is eligible to join the club, and there will be the opportunity to do this and to  purchase club-branded merchandise at this show.
